Russia: Putin says 'Siberia elements taught us a serious lesson'
President Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting in Gorno-Altaisk on Monday focussed on the major issue of flooding and flood damage in Russia’s Far East. Earlier in the summer, heavy rain triggered major flash floods in the Altai Region, which displaced around 20,000 people and caused property damage in the amount of over five billion Rubles.
Putin spoke of the need of learning the lessons and preparing in advance for extreme weather events that could potentially reoccur.
