
Iraq: Army celebrates victory over IS in Anjana
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defence, the Iraqi army has cleared the Anjana area of the Diyala province of IS militants, Tuesday.
An official Iraqi MOD statement said that ground forces, alongside heavy airstrikes by the Iraqi Air Force, have killed many IS militants and also destroyed many of their vehicles. The Iraqi army have also cleared the road connecting the Anjana area to Kirkuk Governorate by dismantling IEDs left by IS forces.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, US President Barack Obama authorized the deployment of an additional 350 American troops to Iraq to protect US diplomats and facilitates in Baghdad.
