Syria: Muallem says Syria "ready to cooperate with West against IS"
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that Syria is "ready for co-operation" with the USA and Britain in co-ordinating airstikes against the Islamic State (IS) but such strikes must be made with Syrian consent, during a news conference in Damascus on Monday.
The Islamic State has advanced into several parts of Syria, including Raqqa province. Muallem's announcement follows a statement by the US in which it said it is considering aerial attacks on IS inside Syrian territory.
