USA: Scorching Ferguson demo marks 2 weeks since Mike Brown slaying
Hundreds of people from different organisations marched together on West Florissant Avenue in Ferguson on Friday, with groups including the NAACP demanding justice over the death of unarmed African American teenager, Michael Brown. With temperatures reaching 102 degrees Fahrenheit (39 degrees Celsius), the march lasted for about one hour. No arrests were reported.
Tensions have remained high in Ferguson since unarmed African-American teenager Michael Brown was shot dead by white police officer Darren Wilson on August 9. Street patrolling responsibility has since shifted from the local authorities to the Missouri Highway Patrol and then to the National Guard. However, following a relative de-escalation of tensions in Ferguson, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon ordered the National Guard to begin withdrawing on Friday.
