      Spain: Protesters hurl rocks after demolition of "La Traba" social centre

      Hundreds of members and friends of the occupied autonomous social center "La Traba" hurled rocks at the debris in Madrid, Wednesday, to voice their contempt for the building's demolition earlier in the day.

      Excavators, guarded by cops, demolished the center prior to the eviction notice. A previous attempt to demolish the centre had been stopped by protests and human chains of several hundred activists.

      "La Traba", which had been self-managed for seven years, was one of the major occupied social centres in Madrid.
