UN: Security Council condemn ISIS and affiliates, possibility of war crimes
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) released a statement in which they condemned the actions of ISIS and associated militants in Iraq, Thursday. The statement, delivered by UK Permanent Representative to the UN Mark Lyall Grant, stated that charges of war crimes could be made against those responsible for targeting civilian populations - making particular note of the Yazidi and Christian communities who are reportedly trapped on mountaintops without access to water or supplies.
The statement was approved by all 15 members of the Security Council.
