
Cambodia: Khmer Rouge officials jailed for life POOL
A UN-backed court sentenced two former senior Khmer Rouge officials for crimes against humanity in Phnom Penh, on Thursday.
Nuon Chea, 88, Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot's 'Brother Number Two', and former head of state Khieu Samphan, 83, were both issued life sentences.
It is the first time a court has prosecuted members of the top cadres of the Khmer Rouge regime, which was responsible for the deaths of up to two million Cambodians between 1975-1979.
