Ukraine: Right Sector protest at Interior Ministry following clashes
Right Sector and other nationalist groups protested in central Odessa on Monday following a concert by Ana Lorak. Wielding placards and waving the Ukrainian flag, the protesters challenged the city's Chief of Police due to altercations the night before.
The concert at the Ibiza venue on Arcadia Beach was disrupted on Sunday evening by angry nationalists who threw sand and fought with police. In the ensuing scuffles one police officer was injured and three protesters arrested. Odessa's police chief denied giving the order for police to use force against the protesters, promising that some would be dismissed.
The protesters were initially upset at the singer's decision to play in Crimea, complaining about her 'creative relationship' with Russia. In concession to the protesters, Lorak decided to donate half the proceeds from the concert to the Ukrainian army, a total of 100,000 Hyrvinas ( €6114 / $8,205). However, the Right Sector were not satisfied and called this an act of corruption, resulting in promotional posters for the concert around the city being defaced.
