Russia: Watch first ever solar-powered boat regatta held in Russia

The first ever Russian regatta with solar powered boats was held at the Luzhniki complex on Saturday as part of the Moscow Festival of Sport.

The regatta was organised by alumni from the Skolkovo business school. Nine teams participated, made up of engineers from a variety of Russian universities and three special guest teams, including Russian Synergy, the acting holders of the champion's title at The Solar1 Monte-Carlo Cup in V20 class. The Dutch Solar Boat Team also took part, along with Nakhimov from Monaco.

Success was judged on the speed of the boat along with the quality of the construction and the design. The Ryazan State Radio Engineering University team beat the Solar1 Monte-Carlo Cup champions Synergy to win the race.
