Russia: Siberian metalheads mosh in protest of Marilyn Manson gig ban
Heavymetal fans in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk staged a protest over the cancellation of a Marilyn Manson concert, Monday.
Dozens of disgruntled Manson fans attended the event dubbed “Rally For Freedom of Expression”, expressing anger over the cancelling of the gig, alongside expressing their concern that the ban could lead other musicians and artists to cancel shows in the city.
Orthodox Christian groups had demonstrated several times against the gig, and demanded Novosibirsk Mayor Anatoly Lokot ban the June concert by the American "shock rocker". In their appeal to Lokot, the protesters stated that Manson sang "blasphemous" songs, and his stage shows, such dancing in a priest's costume, are offensive.
