India: Facebook Gun - is death by social media the future?
Electrical engineering lecturer and former school dropout, Shyam Chaurasia, showcased his latest invention, The Facebook Gun, in Varanasi on Sunday. Chaurasia plans to market the weapon to the Indian armed forces, and subsequently to foreign militaries such as Israel in order to save soldiers' lives.
The gun fires bullets after receiving a command from social networking services like Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype and was designed by Chaurasia to help soldiers monitor enemy movements from a safe distance. The user can also make the gun rotate and tilt before pulling the trigger at the click of a button.
Among the private university lecturer's previous inventions are bullet-proof trousers and helmets with guns attached.
