
Afghanistan: Kabul airport attackers wiped out, say Afghan officials
Militant fighters armed with heavy weapons who attacked the airport in Kabul on Thursday morning were killed by security forces without causing significant damage, Afghan officials said.
Police exchanged fire with the men, who were armed with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenade launchers, for around five hours, before successfully storming the building they were using for cover. One member of the security forces was also reportedly killed in the attack.
