Police and security guards engaged in bloody battle with protesters in Phnom Penh's Freedom Park on Tuesday as security forces attempted to clear an anti-government demonstration out of the designated protest space. More than 30 security officers were reported injured and three opposition MPs arrested during the ensuing clashes.

Demonstrators and supporters of the Cambodia National Rescue Party had attempted to re-open the protest site, which was shut down by order of the government in January. Police arrived to enforce a ban on political gatherings, whereupon fighting broke out.

Both sides exchanged blows before police dispersed the crowd with a volley of tear gas.
