      Brazil: Ring of steel surrounds World Cup final venue

      Police held a tight security cordon around the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday ahead of the final game of the World Cup. More than 25,000 security forces, including military police and army officers are set to be deployed around the city.

      Hundreds of thousands are expected to turn out to watch the game in the host nation's capital, with a capacity crowd of nearly 80,000 people filling the stadium itself.

      World leaders including Russia's Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have been invited to attend the match by Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff.
