USA: Three-legged child flown to US for miracle operation
A one-year-old baby left with an extra limb after being born as a conjoined twin began the gradual process of surgery at Shriners children's hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Ana Paula, whose sister did not survive after birth, was previously conjoined to her twin through their vital organs. Although her sibling was removed, the child was left with two non-functional limbs alongside her single working leg. Doctors will remove both non-working legs, to restore more of the girl's mobility.
The Children of War Foundation stumped up the cash to bring Ana Paula and her mother, Lleana, to the US from Panama.
