UK: Russell Brand calls for "revolution" during anti-austerity protest
Russell Brand joined tens of thousands of protesters march through London during the "The People's Assembly Against Austerity" march on Saturday.
Organisers estimated that over 50,000 people marched from the BBC, in Portland Place, through central London. The comedian and actor took to the stage in Parliament Square, stating that a revolution is required and that "the people who have wealth and power are the people that need to change."
The People's Assembly called for a day of action and was joined by dozens of trade unions, many of which have endorsed a national strike day for July 10. The strike could see over a million and a half workers walk off the job.
