
Ukraine: Yatsenyuk will not give up on gas dispute "without a fight"
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the creation of an energy crisis headquarters amid the ongoing dispute with Russia over gas debts while addressing Kiev's Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister declared that he will "not give up without a fight" and that the government will demand a market price that is "fair and honest." Yatsenyuk also announced that the Ministries of Fuel and Energy, as well as the Ministry of Justice are set to prepare a draft law on the introduction of a state of emergency within the energy sector.
On Monday Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced that Gazprom has put Ukraine on a gas prepayment plan due to its failure to pay the USD $4.458 billion it owes for Russian gas.
