Mexico: Anti-FIFA anarchists attack press, burn fake trophy
Protesters took to the streets of Mexico City Tuesday, burning a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy in solidarity with anti-FIFA protesters in Brazil. Demonstrators also later attacked members of the press, resulting in several injuries and destroying equipment.
The demonstration was originally in honour of the victims of a massacre known as "El Halconazo" that occurred June 10, 1971, when at least 39 people died after a paramilitary group known as the Halcones attacked a student demonstration.
