UK: Glasgow residents hold midnight march against rape
Residents marched Monday evening in Glasgow to raise awareness of women's rights to walk safely at night, following a spate of reported rapes in the city. Organised by two local women on social media, the march saw residents gather at the entrance of Queen's Park and walk through the streets of Govanhill, the scene of one of the rapes.
There have been five reported rapes of women in Glasgow in the past two months. Police have stated that there is no apparent connection between the cases, with the latest taking place in the city centre over the weekend. They say that reports of sexual assaults are down 40 percent from 2013.
