      Several hundred people rallied in protest against an English Defence League march in Stevenage, Saturday.

      Around 150 EDL supporters marched through the town and gathered for a rally in the city centre where they promised to take the law into their own hands, against what one speaker described as "hate preachers" and "Muslim patrols."

      A large police presence kept the two groups apart.
