
Brazil: Referees get in shape for World Cup kick-off
Referees were busy training at Rio de Janeiro's Zico Football Centre on Friday in preparation for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. Referees from 45 different countries will be working at the quadrennial football tournament, which kicks off with hosts Brazil against Croatia on Thursday 12.
While referees and linesmen always have a tough job on footballs biggest stage, this years competition will be the first in history featuring goal line technology. Developed by German company GoalControl, this will provide assistance to officials unsure on whether a goal should be rewarded.
