USA: Snowden urges Americans to take back their privacy
NSA leaker Edward Snowden addressed the Personal Democracy Forum in New York via a live video link on Thursday, urging activists to support the Reset the Net campaign.
Snowden urged the attendees to get involved in pushing for reforms of intrusive government programs, but also to take steps to protect their online activity.
Started by Fight for the Future foundation, Reset the Net is a pro-privacy campaign which aims to offer users simple encryption tools to help hide their digital activity from hackers and government surveillance. The project has already attracted backing from Internet icons such as Reddit, Mozilla, Google and Dropbox.
