Russia: Slavyansk children find shelter in Sevastopol camp
Around 150 children who were evacuated from Slavyansk on Thursday went through a long and exhausting journey on Friday before reaching the final destination point at a children's camp in Sevastopol.
After being offered passes to a Crimean children's camp to escape the danger they were facing daily in their home city of Slavyansk, initial plans were to provide the children with shelter in Artek camp. It was later decided to deliver them to the Foros sanctuary because of the larger amount of vacant places there.
According to RIA Novosti, despite places being booked for the children in advance, when the employees called to report on the children's arrival, it was a Kiev-based administration of the sanctuary who did not authorise the children to be allowed in.
After another bus journey, the children were finally stationed in Radost children's camp, located 200 metres from the Black Sea shore, where they were given medical examinations, food, and rooms to sleep in.
