      Russia: Heroes welcome for ice hockey world champs

      Devoted ice hockey fans gathered in Moscow as the victorious Russian national ice hockey team toured through the city after winning the IIHF 2014 World Championship in Minsk.

      NHL stars Alex Ovechkin, Sergei Bobrovskiy and others helped lift Russia to its fifth world title. The team, led by new head coach Oleg Zarok, defeated Finland 5-2 in the final match of the tournament.

      The victory is considered by some Russian fans as revenge for Russia's defeat in the Winter Olympics, where the hosts lost to Finland in the quarterfinals and failed to medal.
