Russia: Putin helps re-release sanctuary tigers into the wild
Russian President Vladimir Putin assisted in the release of three rare Amur tigers back into wild, as he stopped by the Zheludinsky Sanctuary as part of his tour of the Amur Region on Thursday.
The two males and one female, each estimated to be about one and a half years old, had been rescued by sanctuary workers as young cubs after having lost their mother.
While the male cubs seemed eager to return to wildlife, the female cub was somewhat hesitant.
The event was part of the Amur Tiger Program, aimed at saving rare species from extinction.
