The biannual ILA Berlin Air Show kicked off at the Berlin ExpoCentre Airport Tuesday, where among the aircraft performing on the first day of the show were German Luftwaffe Eurofighters, an Airbus A350 XWB, a Panavia Tornado, a Hispano HA-200, an Airbus A400M Atlas, and a Messerschmitt Me 262. The show, which runs until May 25, claims to be the world's oldest air show.
The ILA Berlin Air Show is one of the largest shows of its kind in Europe. Each day of the event features various flight demonstrations and visits by leading figures from politics, industry, the military and research. Established in 1909, the show's 2012 edition drew over 200,000 visitors, with some 3,600 journalists from 65 countries also attending.
