Ukraine: Donetsk People Republic vow to go ahead with referendum
Officials from the Donetsk People's Republic announced plans to proceed with a referendum for greater autonomy for south-eastern Ukraine during a press conference held in Donetsk Thursday, despite calls from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday to postpone the vote.
The press conference was attended by interim Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed People's Republic of Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, Donbass self-defense leader Miroslav Rudenko, and Andrey Purgin, another official from self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
The vote is set to take place Sunday May 11.
