Russia: Army choir performs hymn to "Polite People" of Crimea
The Alexandrov choir of the Russian Army performed a new piece, entitled "Polite People", for the audience at Luzhniki stadium in Moscow on Wednesday as part of celebrations for Victory Day.
First performed in Evpatoriya in Crimea on Apr 10, the lyrics were written by the head of the culture department within the Russia Defence Ministry Anton Gubankov, with the musical accompaniment composed by deputy head of the Alexandrov ensemble Vyacheslav Umanets.
"Polite People" is an expression which gained rapid popularity on social media after being used to describe Russian troops stationed in Crimea.
