USA: Deadly drone strike on Yemeni wedding replayed by activists
A group of CodePink activists gathered outside the White House on Sunday to re-enact the US drone strike on a wedding in the central Yemeni city of Rad'a, in December 2013, killing 12 civilians.
During the ceremony protesters screamed and dropped to the floor before being covered in sheets smattered with fake blood as makeshift mobile aeroplanes were carried aloft by other protesters, imitating drones.
The action aimed to draw attention to the use of drones by US military forces in the Middle East and Asia and to protest civilian 'collateral' deaths in operations by the unmanned aircrafts.
A total of 17 people were killed in December 2013 when a U.S. drone targeted vehicles that were part of a wedding procession going toward the groom's village outside the Yemeni city of Rad'a. Five of those killed had been Al-Qaeda suspects while the rest were civilians.
