Russia: Moscow music echoes down Crimean promenade
The Festival of Marching Bands, a tradition of musicians playing at railway stations, docks, courtyards and open-air stages, got underway on Friday in Moscow, with the sounds of acoustic and brass instruments heard along the Crimea Embankment's promenade.
Among the headliners performing were the pioneers of the brass band movement in Europe known as CQMD from France, jazz-funk group The Apples from Israel, The Kohinoor Brass Band from India, and Kristijana Azirovic Orkestr from Serbia, along with Moscow orchestras.
The bands played on a triangular stage area at the scenic Crimea Bridge, and then marched to a jam session at a rooftop cafe, before taking themselves to the main stage.
