Ukraine: 'Donetsk People's Republic' joins forces with 'Donbas People's Militia'
The governor of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, and Igor Strelkov, commander of the 'Donbas People's Militia', held a joint press conference in Slavyansk on Saturday.
They announced that the Donbas militia and the 'Donetsk People's Republic' had agreed to coordinate their actions. Pushilin also said that anti-Kiev reinforcements would be sent to Slavyansk following its reported encirclement by Ukrainian forces, Friday, on the orders of the interim government in Kiev.
He also mentioned that a referendum on the independence of the Donetsk People's Republic would be held as planned on May 11. The deal also includes passing control of all barricades, checkpoints and self-defence units to the Donbas People's Militia.
