Malaysia: Protesters march to "Big Satan's" KL embassy
Protesters opposed to the upcoming visit to Malaysia of U.S. President Barack Obama marched to the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. Waving Malaysian flags, the protesters accused the U.S. of imperialism as they held banners reading “OBAMA, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME” and “TPPA is USA.”
One of the protesters referred to the U.S. as the “Big Satan” and said they are on the streets to express their discontent with U.S. foreign policy. The police stood by without intervening and allowed the protesters to hand over a memorandum to U.S. embassy staff.
Obama’s visit to Malaysia is the first by a US president in 48 years, the last trip having been made in 1966 by Lyndon B. Johnson. He is due to arrive in the country on April 26.
