Russia: Russian forces to begin drills in response to Kiev's actions - Shoigu
Ukrainian troops are currently conducting military operations against self-defence groups, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said Thursday in Moscow. He added that about 11,000 Ukrainian soldiers, 160 tanks, 230 armoured carriers and at least 150 artillery pieces are involved in an operation against about 2,000 self-defence group members armed with roughly 100 automatic rifles and submachine guns.
Shoigu also said that in response to Kiev's actions, Russia's Western and Southern Military Districts are launching exercises for battalion-sized task forces in areas bordering Ukraine, with troops marching in combat formation and practising combat engagement.
