Ukraine: Military operation against activists appears to slow
Disagreements between members of the Ukrainian military and activists continued Friday near the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. Activists were seen arguing with soldiers at the base, who remained at their posts.
Ukraine’s Rada-appointed acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsia on Friday confirmed that the central government's “anti-terrorist operation” is continuing in eastern Ukraine, despite calls for a de-escalation of the crisis stated in the four-sided April-17 agreement between Ukraine, Russia, the US and the EU. However, the operation is currently “inactive," Kiev says.
Kiev said its next move depends on the treaty’s “implementation.”
