Russia: Putin discusses economic development of Sevastopol

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Acting Governor of Sevastopol Alexei Chaly and former deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet and reserve Vice-Admiral Sergei Menyailo, at the president’s residency near Moscow, Monday. The president announced that he will sign an executive order appointing Sergei Menyailo as new acting governor of Sevastopol, replacing Chaly.

Alexei Chaly said the naval base in Sevastopol is in a bad condition, and that the strategic development of the base and city is a priority. He proposed his candidacy to be part of a new strategic development agency to oversee the overhaul of the city.
