Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Sergei Aksyonov as the acting governor of Crimea, in Moscow, Monday. Russia's leader now needs to sign the necessary documents to confirm the appointment.
Putin and Aksyonov also discussed the social and economic situation in the Crimea region, and also agreed on gubernatorial elections in Crimea which would be held on September 14.
