United Nations: Sergeyev lays out 'evidence' of Russian involvement in east Ukraine
Ukrainian envoy to the UN Yuriy Sergeyev spoke on the topic of Russian involvement in Ukraine at an emergency Security Council session at the UN in New York City on Sunday.
Sergeyev outlined what he called evidence of Russian involvement in Ukraine, including the use of Kalashnikov assault rifle AK-100 series by "terrorist groups", which he said were "also seen in the hands of Russian troops in Crimea."
He said the same tactics used "when capturing and seizing the administrative buildings in Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkov regions, [were] the same as what [was] used when the buildings of the parliament of Crimea and other governmental buildings in Crimea [were] captured."
Sergeyev added that the men seen in viral videos of gunfire used on local Ukrainian police stations in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk were not peaceful protesters, but rather "the professional special forces appropriately equipped and armed as such [those] of the Russian Federation."
