Germany: World's biggest trade fair opens in Hannover
The world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology, the Hannover Messe, opened its doors in Hannover on Sunday.
Visitors could take part in a guided tour, watch demonstrations of the newest bionic and energy saving technologies, and even meet a hopping bionic kangaroo. The 7kg and 100 centimetre tall robot mimics the natural movements of a kangaroo, turning and jumping up to 80 centimetres in distance and 40 centimetres in the air. The kangaroo can either be operated wireless via a specially produced bracelet or from a notebook.
Around 5,000 exhibitors are taking part this year, including Phoenix Contact, Pepperl+Fuchs, Harting, ABB,Initiative Brennstoffzelle, Festo, IBG Automation and Partnerland Holland. Pepperl+Fuchs is exhibiting the SmartBridge adapter allows the operator to check and operate any machine with his tablet without the need to open the machine or stand right next to it.
Another highlight at the exhibition is the 'Smart Factory'. The robotic parts of the fully automated factory communicate with each other via cloud technology. Developers say this makes the production process as efficient as possible. ABB demonstrate a model with four robotics arms, which adapt their workflow to one another.
