France: Reshuffled government meets for the first time

France's new ministers attended the first council of ministers meeting at the Elysée presidential palace, in Paris on Friday. The government was reshuffled after local elections handed the far-right National Front victory in a record number of towns on Sunday.

France's new prime minister, Manuel Valls, announced the new cabinet on Wednesday including Segolene Royal Minister of Environment Affairs and Bernard Cazeneuve Minister of the Interior.

Valls, 51, was named prime minister on Monday evening after the Socialists lost control of at least 150 towns in local elections.
