Italy: Venetians push for independence at Treviso rally

Promoter of the Public Vote for Veneto Independence Gianluca Busatto spoke at a Veneto pro-independence rally in Treviso, Thursday. Dozens of protesters waved the Flag of Veneto in the centre of Treviso as they listened to Busatto make his speech.

Italian police arrested two dozen people in Venice on Wednesday, who were believed to be planning to deploy a self-built armoured vehicle in Venice's famed St Mark's Square.

A recent poll in March showed that around 51 percent of Venetians would vote for independence in a referendum, while 32 percent would vote against.
