Vatican City: Queen Elizabeth II visits Pope Francis

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip met Pope Francis in the Vatican for the first time on Thursday.

They had tea together in the Pope Paul VI Audience Hall during their private meeting. Later gifts were exchanged. The Royals brought a hamper with British produce and the pontiff gave them a royal orb made of lapis lazuli with a silver cross on top, for their baby great-grandson Prince George.

Prior to her meeting with Pope Francis, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had lunch with the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano.
