      Turkey: Erdogan declares victory for AKP in local elections

      Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to thousands of supporters from the balcony of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) headquarters in Ankara on Sunday night, following local elections in the country.

      After 60% of the votes were counted on Monday morning, AKP was leading 47% against 27% for the main opposition.
