USA: The $4,000 home PC dream machine
The new Steiger Dynamics LEET Home Theater PC was released for the first time on Saturday.
Boasting a high-end Intel Core i7-4930K processor pre-overclocked to 4.4GHz, the LEET is a custom-built monster, allowing the buyer to choose the technical specifications according to their preferences. Prices for the Home Theater PC start from $1,799 (€1,300) for the LEET Pure and go as high as $11,500 for a top-of-the-range custom LEET Reference.
The top-of-the-range Reference model can be fitted out with a stunning range of internal options, including up to 64GB of 2133MHz RAM slotted into an ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard coupled with the top single-card solution in the Nvidia lineup, the Titan Black, or if price is no object, up to three in SLI configuration. Steiger also offers a tweaked custom liquid cooling solution to keep this mountain of high-end components from melting down.
While the LEET is designed as a home theatre machine, with a brushed aluminium enclosure ready to slot in beneath a home entertainment solution, most Full HD content would struggle to push the device to its limits. Indeed, Nvidia claim their Titan card is more than capable of driving displays and gaming at up to 4K resolution.
