Russia: Putin honours Russian military stationed in Crimea
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited a presentation ceremony for officers appointed to senior command positions in Moscow on Friday. At the event, Putin spoke about the individuals recently involved in Crimea, paying respect to their "mentality and ability to maintain peace and avoid bloodshed". He also said he respected the Ukrainian servicemen who have decided to return to Ukraine, calling for them to be treated with respect and decency.
Appointed to senior command positions were officers from the Defence Ministry, Interior Ministry, Emergency Situations Ministry, Federal Security Service, Foreign Intelligence Service, Federal Drug Control Service, Federal Corrections Service and Investigative Committee.
The ceremony was held in the Hall of the Order of St. George in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
