Germany: Police repression demo shut down by Berlin's police force
Around 100 people gathered in Berlin's Moritzplatz for a spontaneous demonstration against police and state repression, Saturday night. Organisers allege that apartments of left wing activists were victims of a police crackdown on the far-left movement in November 2013, further accusing the police of forcibly obtaining DNA from individuals.
The demonstration followed a protest in the afternoon with around 1,000 protesters on the streets of the German capital. The demonstration was halted by the police with several arrests being made. Protesters at Berlin's Moritzplatz were overwhelmed by around 1,800 police officers who divided the crowds, in the process detaining and arresting certain individuals.
