Russia: Crimean prosecutor focused on catching sniper, not her looks
Crimean Prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya was focused on her job in Simferopol on Wednesday, saying that recent attention she has received for her appearance might perhaps help lull suspected criminals into a false sense of security in court cases. Earlier, she said that reports that authorities had detained an individual in a fatal shooting which killed two and wounded two others in Simferopol Tuesday are false.
Poklonskaya was appointed to her post March 11, after her candidacy was presented to the Crimean Parliament by Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov. She has said that Tuesday's shooting had a "high degree of similarity" to sniper attacks on Maidan Square in Kiev in February.
