Ukraine: Turchynov criticizes Crimea referendum
Oleksandr Turchynov, the Rada-appointed interim President of Ukraine, spoke at a special session of the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev on Monday, following Sunday's referendum in which Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to accede to the Russian Federation.
Some 96.77 percent of voters said 'yes' to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea rejoining Russia. Mikhail Malyshev, chairman of the Crimean parliament’s electoral commission, announced the final results of the referendum on Monday. 1,233,002 votes ‘for’ integration were cast; with the total number of voters standing at 1,274,096 people. Turnout was 83.1 percent.
