Ukraine: At least one dead in Donetsk protest clashes
At least one person was killed Thursday when clashes broke out in Donetsk between pro-Russia supporters and those in favour of Ukrainian unity. About a dozen more were taken to hospitals, and several people were detained.
Tensions were high earlier in the day when groups of pro-Russian activists and supporters of Ukrainian unity voiced their disagreement with each other during simultaneous rallies in central Donetsk's Lenin Square, as firecrackers and smoke bombs were thrown between the two sides of about 1,000 people each. Violence occurred as the two sides came in contact with each other.
