USA: Obama praises "courage of the Ukrainian people" during meeting with Yatsenyuk
United States president Barack Obama met with Rada-appointed Ukrainian prime minster Arseniy Yatsenyuk for an Oval Office session at the White House, Wednesday.
During the meeting, Obama praised the Ukrainian people for their desire "to be able to determine their own destiny".
Yatsenyuk, who has earlier met with U.S Secretary of State John Kerry, reiterated calls for diplomatic engagement with Russia and thanked the United States for their $1 billion loan to shore up the Ukrainian economy
The meeting comes four days ahead of the Crimean referendum on whether the Autonomous Republic will rejoin the Russian Federation.
