Germany: Tymoshenko prioritising health over politics - Charite doctors
Doctors at the Charite hospital in Berlin where former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is being treated for a herniated disc, gave a press conference on Saturday.
With the permission of Tymoshenko, the team of doctors clarified that Tymoshenko had come to Berlin for treatment due to distrust of Ukrainian authorities.
Prof. Dr. Peter Vajkoczy, Director of the Neurology Clinic, explained that an operation has not yet been ruled out, but that less invasive treatment such as physiotherapy and infiltration will first be explored. Einhaeupl then added that the length of time Tymoshenko will remain in Berlin is dependent on her response to treatment, but that they assume she will remain for at least one week.
Tymoshenko, who has said she will run for the Ukrainian presidency, arrived in Berlin Friday, and is accompanied by her daughter, Yevhenia Tymoshenko.
